    Help Please

    Can anyone point me to a simple tutorial on placing fx in a cod4 map or explain what I'm doing wrong? It's been a long time and I don't quite remember. The only one I found has the scripting in the main .gsc, and it's not working. Last time I remember doing it, You place a script(origin or struct?) in the map, with a targetname, then called the fx script from your main, but the details are to fuzzy for me to figure it out. I'm not getting a script error, but the fx isn't showing either.

    Code:
    Main.gsc

    main()
    {
    	maps\mp\mp_standoff_fx::main();
            maps\createfx\mp_standoff_fx::main();
    	maps\mp\_load::main();

    	ambientPlay("ambient_backlot_ext");

    	game["allies"] = "marines";
    	game["axis"] = "opfor";
    	game["attackers"] = "axis";
    	game["defenders"] = "allies";
    	game["allies_soldiertype"] = "desert";
    	game["axis_soldiertype"] = "desert";

    	setdvar( "r_specularcolorscale", "1" );

    	setdvar("r_glowbloomintensity0",".25");
    	setdvar("r_glowbloomintensity1",".25");
    	setdvar("r_glowskybleedintensity0",".3");
    	setdvar("compassmaxrange","1800");

    }
    Code:
    raw/maps/createfx/mp_standoff_fx

    main()
    {

        ent = maps\mp\_utility::createOneshotEffect( "glow");
        ent.v[ "origin" ] = ( 1060, -153.5, 37.5 );
        ent.v[ "angles" ] = ( 270, 0, 0 );
        ent.v[ "fxid" ] = "glow";
        ent.v[ "delay" ] = -15;

    }
    Code:
    raw/maps/mp/mp_standoff_fx

    main()
    {
    	level._effect[ "glow" ]		 	= loadfx( "glow_latern" );

    /#
    	if ( getdvar( "clientSideEffects" ) != "1" )
    		maps\createfx\mp_standoff_fx::main();
    #/
    }

    I see a small error. that I fixed but still no glow.

    Code:
    raw/maps/mp/mp_standoff_fx

    main()
    {
        level._effect[ "glow" ]             = loadfx( "props/glow_latern" );

    /#
        if ( getdvar( "clientSideEffects" ) != "1" )
            maps\createfx\mp_standoff_fx::main();
    #/
    }

    I followed it and added snow with np. When I try to use the fx I want I get a weird error. I checked it in the editor and it seems to work right.

    I even went back put the snow effect back in and it shows right up, so I don't know, but that is the same error I was getting the first time too.

    This tut, doesn't have you placing any scripts in radiant. If I remember right I had to before, then I could just duplicate the entity without needing to add any additional scripting. In this case creating a prefab with a candle + a fx to use throughout

    Figured it out

    I have to use a different script to call the effect. here is the one that works!

    main()
    {
    ent = maps\mp\_utility::createLoopEffect( "fire" );
    ent.v[ "origin" ] = ( -200, 104, -40 );
    ent.v[ "angles" ] = ( 270, 0, 0 );
    ent.v[ "fxid" ] = "fire";
    ent.v[ "delay" ] = 0.3;
