  1. custom textures would crash the radiant map editor

    I imported some custom textures into radiant. then i would select for an example: group All-----> test-------> scroll down the texture list the editor would crash with a ASSERTION FAILURE Expression: dx.device

    Do any here have the xmodels from the mp_bo2plaza Remake for cod4? the author of the map is name hugo but he has no email contact information. And on top of that the cod 4 download section don't have any custom xmodels to download from.

  4. help on editing skins.iwd

    I have removed branding (logos) from 'z_smvskins.iwd'. I edited the .dds through Photoshop using nVidia plugin and after that I repacked the images. However now it wont work. When I start the COD4-Multiplayer gets blacked out and not responding and then crash. But the original file works. Appreciate anyone's support.   5. Help Please

    Can anyone point me to a simple tutorial on placing fx in a cod4 map or explain what I'm doing wrong? It's been a long time and I don't quite remember. The only one I found has the scripting in the main .gsc, and it's not working. Last time I remember doing it, You place a script(origin or struct?) in the map, with a targetname, then called the fx script from your main, but the details are to fuzzy for me to figure it out.     Bah! I need to either prevent the linker.exe dos window from automatically closing so I can read through errors. Or at the least if the linker spits out a log file somewhere. Anyone know of either? Thx.

  7. how do i change an image in a map? like on a billboard...

    I would appreciate assistance with changing an image in a map. I am using winrar to extract the iwd file. And I can get to where the images folder is for a map. I found the image I want to change (ie billboard.iwi) I convert it to dds, and open it in photoshop (photoshop 7) I make my changes, then save it as dds, then convert it back to iwi, then repack the map iwd file.

    Hi, In the map I am working on I have installed a couple of row boats. I made them larger using modelscale etc. After making them bob by following a tutorial, they have reverted back to their original size. Does anyone know how I can make the bigger.   10. xmodels... from cod5 to cod4...

    This in general seems to be an easy process, if a bit time consuming. I use Tom's utility to export the cod5 model... then use cod4 asset manager to make the xmodel and materials. That all works and they are usable in cod5. But I ran into a snag with a tree. A small tree where the trunk has it's bark texture, which is fine, then the branches/leaves have their own texture, and that one is the issue. If I set the material up as a replace, it shows like the below image... black where there should be nothing. If I set it to blend, the leaves are like shadows. Tried fiddling with settings for decal and such, but can not seem to get the right combination. So wondering if anyone has done this and knows the settings, or has advice. Thanks.

  12. [Solved] Trigger use touch - operating a sliding door/wall?

    I have never used the trigger_use_touch tool, and after running around on the Capts WCastle map, I liked the idea of the secret room behind the fireplace 'bravo' my question is... How do you achieve a nice little addition to a map like that? A. How the trigger works B. How the sliding wall section works Thanks for any help :bowdown: I feel I am quite adapt at the simpler side to mapping now I have a few under my belt, I am now looking into the more difficult parts like effects, sounds, triggers, messages, etc.

  13. cod5 textures to cod4....

    I decided to pull some textures from cod5 to use in 4, because they have a better selection of stuff... I can find the needed colormap, normalmap and spec map's for the textures, convert to dds, and create the textures using those in cod4.... they show up just fine. But it seems no matter what the texture, they look a bit odd in cod4... the more distant, the more they seem to have a pixely sort of shimmer. Just curious if others have seen this, and if perhaps I am missing a setting in the asset manager when making them into cod4 assets. I have made many decals and other textures for use and have never seen such a thing, so perahps there is something strange about the cod5 textures? Dunno...

  14. Heli Help

    Hi, Just when I thought it was over, Radiant throws some more crap at me. I had the map up and running, and have even posted it on our server. When I went to do some tweaking it threw up a helicopter leave node not found error. I'm guessing that it can't find the leave origin for the heli. After going over the heli's path several times in the map, I went through the map file, and I can't for the life of me see what is suddenly wrong. Could someone please take a look and see if you can spot something.... // entity 1963 {

  15. Stock sound playing with fx? how?

    I know this is probably a simple thing, but I have had no success :( I have read sound tutorials, and still don't manage to hear anything? e.g. Lets say I use a stock fx for a small fire, in the code for that, there is a ent sound "" or something like that. How do I go about just making a simple stock sound play with that fx? It's probably just me being stupid, but can someone explain in simple steps, just how to play a stock sound with a stock effect.   17. Help!!1...Parse entity error.

    Hi. I have just more or less finished my latest map and disaster has struck. I was just adding a brick to a wall and clicked the E button to align one of the corners. As I moved the corner the brick disappeared. I undid the move and tried again, but it kept disappearing. Radiant then crashed and closed down. When I reopened it, and opened my map I got this error message....." Parse entity not found,unrecoverable error, would you like to edit preferences before closing radiant". I opened a couple of other maps and they opened and closed fine, it is just this map. The last thing I did before opening up tonight was to add an helicopter path. I am now desperate, as I have spent months building the map. I do have a version of it in my usermap folder, but it is not the completed version. Regards

    HI I am trying to replicate wst scope for them as someone has removed all there images from their iwd.
