  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: [Tutorial] Making a loadscreen ( CoD2 )

    1. Make your loadscreen in photoshop, paintshop, or whatever you use. Make your image 1024 *1024. Save it as a .dds file (this is assuming you already have the .dds plugin) Save it as the format DXT5 ARGB ( Interpolated Alpha ) with no MIP maps. 2. Now open the asset manager. Scroll down to material, click it and click the new entry button. Name the new entry loadscreen_mp_yourmapname. 3. Now set the material type to 2d. Set the surface type to None. Set sort to multiplicative. Set usage to not in editor. 4. Move down to Color Map and browse for your .dds file. Leave the rest of the settings to their default.

  4. Sticky Thread Sticky: [Tutorial] How to create a .iwd

    Creating an .iwd is very simple. Your map will need to be in the .iwd format when it is played on an internet server. An .iwd works very much the same as the .pk3 in the original Call of Duty. 1. Make a folder on your desktop. (Mine is named map_temp). It does not matter what you name this. 2. Inside this folder make a folder called maps and a folder called mp. Your arena file will go in this mp folder (An .arena file is not absolutely necessary, but it is the file that will list your map). 3. Inside the maps folder make another folder called mp. Put your .bsp and .gsc files in here. 4. You will need winrar for this step. After you have completed the above steps return to your map_temp folder. Select both the maps and mp folder and right click one of them and select Add to archive. Under archive format select .zip. Make sure compression format is normal. Press O.K.

  1. CoD2 play default sound

    Hi everyone, when looking through the .iwd files in your main folder, you can find a lot of sound files which exist by default. I've tried playing them through a mod that's running on my server, but nothing happens. Only the following 3 sounds worked: iw_05.iwd\sound\Footsteps\land_dirt iw_05.iwd\Explosions\artillery_incoming01 (although the name for the sound file i used in the function was "artillery_incoming") i've also tried playing those but none of them worked although most of them are in the same .iwd file: Mortar_dirt03 mrk_building_big_explod_2b mrk_incoming2

    Hello, Do you personally think that some of the CoD2 stock maps have this certain design layer to it?. As in maps like Carentan,Toujane,etc have each certain layers, so its like there's differnt areas on the map that make people play as a team,cover fire,etc. And what do you guys think about creating maps that are more planned out, so they're made in a certain way that would: - Promote team play - Promote more - etc

  10. CoD2 :: survival Style MP match (new mod idea)

    Hello, Would this be possible? From the movies, Saints and Soliders & saving private ryan (map ideas). NOTE:: Do you know the sniper mods on cod2?, such as the server chrisan snipers and the map is made that there's a invisbivle wall in the middle. its a bit like that EXCEPT its not about snipers, and its mainly about a certain path way, time ,etc. and that BOTH TEAMS ARE ALWAYS MOVING. the axis for example would be moving up on the left side of the map to be ready to stop the allies going in the direction on the right side of the map collecting intel for example.

  16. Question Detail vs. structural and effect to gameplay

    As far as I got it right "detail" is drawn only when player can see it and "structural" is drawn always. When everything, I mean all brushes and patches except terrain, have been turned to detail, compiling time drops dramatically because of visdatasize drops to 10000 or even below it. Compile takes not more than 30 minutes. If only few elements of the map is "detail" visdatasize is 1000000 and above and compile takes ages, at least 2hrs. My question is: Is there any reason not to turn brushes and patches as much as possible to detail? Or maybe even all structural to detail? (One thing is sure, fast compile for testing map every now and then after changes is good thing)

    Hey guys, im new here just signed up.. some-one said this was a better fourm to use for help rather than modsonline! i made a map almost finished it, ive compiled it.. made iwd. so i had the iwd of my map i put it in my main folder cod2-main-mp_lolmen.iwd! no other mods are in main folder! so i open call of duty 2 multiplayer, i go to start new server, my map is there.. but it wont play.. but if i but the (d3dbsp) if i copy this file out of the iwd, and place it in call of duty 2 -> main -> maps -> mp -> HERE! then try again it works, but because i have an elevator in map and i need the script witch is in the iwd.

    hey all, for whatever reason, my grid pac man dots flash, sometimes if i am on the right angle they wont flash as much. is there a way to make the dots not flash or dissapear so they can be collected easier. thanks in advance/
