Hi all,

I am planning on building a new (game) rig in about 3/4 months from now.
I'd like to know what you would buy to build a new (game) rig.

Here is the info on the budget and what I plan to do with this new rig
I'm curiuos what you guys come up with.

Budget :
EU € 1200,- max
US $ 1550,- (on todays rate of exchange)
CAN$ 1551,- (on todays rate of exchange)
UK ? 965,- (on todays rate of exchange)

What am I planning on doing ?

- Gaming (CoD series in general)/ other FPS games
- Mapping (Radiant/UDK)
- Moddeling (Maya/3DsMaxdesign)
- Video-editing (Sony Vegas/Camtasia Studio)
- Photoshop

What do I need ?
Main goal is to build a high end rig (or getting close by)

-CASE
-CPU
-GPU (1 GPU , I have no intention to setup a SLi or Crossfire bridge)
-PSU
-MOBO
-MEMORY
-SSD
-DVD
-COOLER

I have some things on my current rig that can be used in the new one like cardreader and HDD, so no need (yet) to buy new ones.
I prefer Intel CPU and Geforce GPU (Asus)

Here is a list of what I have in mind :

-CASE : Corsair Carbide 500R Black : http://www.corsair.com/pc-cases/carbide-series-pc-case/carbide-series-500r-mid-tower-case.html

-CPU : Intel Core i7 3770K Boxed : http://ark.intel.com/products/65523/Intel-Core-i7-3770K-Processor-(8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz)

-GPU : ???????????????????? I really can't make up my mind :(

-PSU : XFX ProSeries 750W XXX Edition : http://xfxforce.com/en-gb/Products/Power-Supply/XFX/Pro-Series/ProSeries-750W-PSU.aspx

-MOBO : Asrock Z77 Extreme4 : http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=Z77%20Extreme4

-MEMORY : Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 Low Profile : http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-low-profile-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cml8gx3m2a1600c9.html

-SSD : Samsung 830 series Desktop Upgrade Kit 128GB : http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-storage/MZ-7PC128D/AM

-DVD : Sony Optiarc AD-7280S : http://www.sony-optiarc.eu/products/dvddrivesdesktoppcs.html

-COOLER : Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B : http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/cpu-cooler/mugen-2-rev-b.html

Share your thoughts , advice, comments etc.

Oh, OS will be Windows 7 Ultimate x64 :)

Thanks

€399,- In the netherlands.
Dutch release was may 13th, it's quitte a new GPU.
By the time I start building my new rig, prices have lowered for this beast hopefully :)

If anyone has other suggestions regarding a new rig, don't hesitate to post them here :)

I'll get Toyz to look at this asap, personally I still like AMD graphics cards atm. They seem to hold out really well against their counterpart, as for the processor, the 8 core 8150 is great, but if your going for intel I would choose the 2700k over the 3770K unless power savings are your biggest concern. Lately CPU's are getting more efficient not necessarily faster imo

Very nice price indeed! Superb read/write speed aswell.
After some search on dutch websites, the cheapest price I could find was € 89.99

Thanks MelVin, I'll take that in consideration and do some research on benchmarks etc :enaccord8:

Wait off on the GPU for a bit, rumor has it the bins are a bit horrible for kepler so prices are extremely inflated. $600 USD for a GTX680 when the MSRP is $500 USD. Nevertheless the GTX670 seems like a kick-ass card, and green is the way to go. ;)
